In the past year, Council 1232: successfully created The Father Jack Gentleman Scholarship Fund for graduating MERHS seniors to honor the late pastor of Sacred Heart, Manchester-by-the Sea and St John’s Essex; ran a winter coat drive to benefit the needy of Cape Ann; purchased Bibles for confirmation classes and Advent/ Lent devotional booklets, sponsored a community Red Cross blood drive, supported the 5th Annual Cookout for the Senior and Retired Priests of the Archdiocese at Tucks Point, “hands out” for Tootsie Roll drive to benefit God’s Special children, sponsored North Shore veneration of Our Lady of Guadalupe image in select parishes, hosted monthly speakers and offered related financial support at council meetings (i.e. Star House,CAMPS, FOCUS-Fellowship of Catholic University Students); assisted Sacred Heart and St John’s as ushers at Father Jack Gentleman’s lying in state and funeral, assisted local parishes (Manchester-by the Sea, Essex, Gloucester, Marblehead, Beverly ) as Eucharistic ministers, lectors, ushers and hospital visitors.
Renewed vigor of Masconomo Council 1232 Knights of Columbus Manchester-by the Sea was recognized as a Star Council by the national Supreme Council of the Knights of Columbus for its major step up in new membership recruiting year over year.
