Last weekend Masconomo Council 1232 Manchester by-the Sea Knights of Columbus successfully concluded its “Warm Coats for Cold Weather” coat drive. That Council program received donated coats and winter weather gear for individuals of all ages. The generosity demonstrated by parishioners of Sacred Heart and St. John’s and residents of Manchester by the Sea, Essex, Gloucester and surrounding communities was overwhelming and 170 coats were received this year. That was more than double the number donated a year ago. The coats will be distributed by Catholic Charities North to individuals, young and old, on Cape Ann bundling up against this winter’s chill.
The brothers of Masconomo Council 1232 thank all who contributed to the success of the “Warm Coats for Cold Weather Drive”.  The coat collection drive has become an annual event. Unfortunately the need for warm winter clothes will not go away and our caring community must respond.
