The Masconomo Council 1232 Knights of Columbus will build and sell an 8 X 12 shed. 100% of the proceeds will be used for humanitarian relief for Christian refugees.
The Masconomo Council of the Knights of Columbus is running a “Drive for Sox” from now until the Red Sox begin Spring Training in late February. Look for the bins in the back of Sacred Heart Church and St. John the Baptist Church labelled “Sock Drive”. We accept donations of all kinds of socks, but they need to be new and clean!
It may sound like a small thing, but clean socks are a big deal for those struggling with homelessness or health problems. Your donation will go toward Fr. John Capuci’s “Sock Ministry”. Fr. John is a friend of Fr. Paul’s. He started his Sock Ministry in New Orleans, and now that Fr. John has moved to Burlington, MA, he has continued his Sock Ministry to benefit Boston area homeless shelters.
As the cold weather bears down on us, please do your part and donate a few (or more!) pairs of socks to the bins in the back of the church before the end of February. Thanks for your help!
Last weekend Masconomo Council 1232 Manchester by-the Sea Knights of Columbus successfully concluded its annual fall fundraiser. That signature Council program supports a wide range of charitable activities of which Council 1232 can be justifiably proud.
The generosity of parishioners from Sacred Heart, Manchester by- the Sea and St John’s, Essex, as well as that of well-wishers from throughout Cape Ann and beyond enabled the Council to extend and strengthen our charitable outreach.
Our fundraising success is attributable both to the support of the raffle by Cape Ann residents and to the generosity of Cape Ann restaurants and businesses that have supported the raffle with goods and services since its inception. This giving program would not exist without the loyal support of our contributing businesses. We are grateful for their continued support.
We are indebted to the following area businesses for their commitment to the community and Masconomo Council 1232:
Sullco; Cape Ann Savings, Patriots Tickets, MAC, Stonybrook Water, Allen’s Pharmacy, Standley’s garage, Nor’East frameworks, Crosby’s, Cape Ann Savings, Roy Moore Lobster, Cala’s, Windward Grille, 7 Central, Allie’s Beach Street Café, Shea’s, Manchester Hardware, Nor’East Cleaners, Chapman’s, Prides Crossing Confectioners, Lobsta Land, Village Restaurant, Bravo, Harrigan’s, Bass Rocks, The Liquor Locker, Superfine, Causeway Restaurant, Depot Dinner in Beverly
Masconomo Council 1232 Knights of Columbus salutes the commitment to community demonstrated repeatedly by these contributing companies and all who purchased our raffle tickets. They have our wholehearted thanks. They are an essential ingredient in our success toward supporting area charities.
The council raised $453.70 this past week for the “Tootsie Roll drive” which has nationally distributed millions of dollars in support of people with intellectual disabilities. Most of these funds have been focused toward children and Special Olympics. The cause touches all communities; the need grows enormously. Year after year Manchester residents and shoppers from throughout the area have dug deep into their pockets and given generously to this cause. Locally a portion of those funds collected have purchased specialized software, prosthetics and assistance required by area children. We thank contributors in advance of the drive and them an enjoyable fall.”
The week 1 kick-off to build the shed is underway. Thanks to the fellow brothers for pitching in Saturday.
